"...an assured production, well worth seeing" - Shropshire Star

Autumn 2011 saw Appletree embark on their very first tour with a production of The Browning Version by Terence Rattigan.  With a strong cast of 7 actors, the tour travelled to venues across Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

The Browning Version 2011 tourThis classic story of the "Crock" captivated audiences who saw this one act play, causing many of them to send us emails and tweets with some lovely comments (please see below).  The tour ended in triumph at the prestigious Courtyard Theatre in Hereford, where we had a sell-out audience!

Audience Comments:

"We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your performance of The Browning Version yesterday evening at Hereford. The production and the acting were all of a very high standard. We look forward to future productions by your company."

Early Years Theatre

This Arts Council funded theatrical installation amazed and delighted it's audience of under 5s and their accompanying adults during our week long residency at Ludlow Assembly Rooms. Set in a series of rooms, the audience was led through the story of Polly the parrot who escaped from her pet shop birdcage and made the long journey back to the jungle where she belonged. On the way the audience encountered the pet shop owner, Mr Morris, two London pigeons, Reg and Vi and Salty Sal the sailor.

Comment from Paul Redway, Creative Director at Ludlow Assembly Rooms:

The Assembly Rooms is delighted to have worked in partnership with Appletree Theatre on the Polly project.  The audience - both young children and parents - all loved it and are demanding more!  We will definitely work in partnership with the company again and would recommend Appletree to everyone who wants to engage imaginatively with young people.  Carl and Jules are professional, hard working and created a magical atmosphere - the best theatre I've seen for an early years audience in a long time.
