film in FIVE at Warwick Words

The 2010 Warwick Words Literary Festival saw the merging of the written word with film, with the launch of their new festival project "Film in Five".  As Appletree's resident cameraman, Carl spent a full week working with 4 x schools in the Warwick area, who had been selected to take part in the project.

Students from each school worked with professional screenwriter, Campbell Perry, during the previous week to create screenplays for a 5 minute film.  Then Carl worked with each school to help them capture their screenplay on camera.  Carl said "none of the students realised just how LONG the filming process can take - even a 5 minute film can take all day to film..and in every single case, this is exactly what happened!  However, the quality of the screenplays was exceptional, and everyone was blown away when they saw their edited films at the Premiere Screening held at the Bridgwater Theatre in Warwick"

Mike Perry, Warwick School's Head of Drama said "Thank you again for all your hard work on Film in 5 and especially the film you shot with Warwick boys. We are delighted with the results and will hopefully see this as only the start of a growing interest in film-making at Warwick".

The premiere was also attended by Simon Flynn, from Screen WM, who said "I was really impressed with the range and quality of films that the pupils of various Warwick schools produced with the help of Carl and Campbell. The films embraced a variety of themes and made full use of the locations and resources available. The pupils clearly benefitted from the experience, and can all be genuinely proud of their efforts and finished films."
