who we are

Here at Appletree we have a smashing company of actors that we work with on a regular basis bringing them in for our shows and projects as needed. On a day to day basis it's little old me, Jules and little old him, Carl " less of the old thank you!" with added support from the lovely  Kate ;0)

Here's a bit about us

all about Jules (Artistic Director)

I'm Jules and I'm an actor with over 25 years experience on stage and on television and film. Over the last 15 years I have worked in T.I.E and community theatre, working on a very diverse range of projects including large scale musical theatre productions, documentary filming and small group drama therapy work. Acting has lead me down many interesting paths over the years and these days I enjoy directing and writing just as much as treading the boards! Appletree gives me the opportunity to dream up all sorts of exciting projects and then it's down to Carl to harness my ideas and make them work practically. I'm always striving to try new techniques and use new technology to turn an idea into a multi media experience.

all about Carl (Technical Director)

I’m Carl Walker, and like Jules, I too am passionate about all aspects of performing arts.  With over 10 years experience of acting on the stage, I have performed many and varied works, including comedy, serious drama, pantomime and musical theatre.

Having an electronics background also means I manage all of the technical requirements of Appletree’s productions, including lighting, sound and video filming/editing.

All of the work I do is focused on bringing out the best in individuals, achieved though a combination of laughter, energy and fun!

all about Kate (Non-Executive Director)

Hi, I'm Kate Francis.  I started out my working life as an in-house theatre technician, straight out of University with a degree in English and drama.  This theatre experience gave me a wonderful understanding of all aspects backstage, which I have drawn on ever since.  After several years and numerous companies later, I moved back to Shropshire and started teaching drama and English to Sixth Form students.

My real passion lies in directing and I have worked alongside Jules for many years on big musical productions.  Another love is music and you might catch me at local venues singing in a band. I'm very much a hands-on individual - I like to say yes at every opportunity!
